While the iDRAC 8 is a server-level technology which can be used to manage an individual machine, the purpose is to work well with data center management applications like Dell OpenManage. The Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller 8 or iDRAC 8 is a primary method for low level Dell server administration. The optional port card provides dedicated network and vflash connections. It also gives me an SD card slot, in which I can put a Dell vFlash card of 4, 8 or 16GB possibly 32GB as well, that I have no idea what I would use for.
